"Against Time" Releasing In...
Chris Nick, known as Cenyc, is an emerging artist from Montauk, NY, and Austin, TX. Chris doesn't remember a time when music was not an important force in his life. His father, a seasoned sound engineer who has supported events on the East End of Long Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut for decades, and his mother, an alum of Northwestern University and a gifted vocalist with a background in musical theater, nurtured his talent from an early age. As a toddler, he was already demonstrating a natural gift for rhythm on a homemade PVC drum set his father constructed for him. Inspired by his life experiences, the importance of thinking independently and maintaining financial independence, Cenyc writes his lyrics himself.
Despite no early formal training, his facility with drums grew throughout grade school and high school. At age 7, he was invited to perform with The Grateful Dead at the South Street Seaport in New York City and had the unique opportunity to jam with Johnny Winter. Inspired by Brian McKnight, he began studying piano in high school, and during his college years, he majored in music. During his early years, he rapped with friends and performed with his childhood friend TShyne. Chris is also a gifted athlete who played college baseball and professional Arena football, and currently works with other athletes of all levels as a personal trainer.
